My Favourite Coral Blushes for Spring and Summer

It seems a bit pointless speaking about spring and summer at the moment with the random snow storms we've been getting, but spring is now officially here apparently! I've had my heating turned onto the maximum setting pretty much non stop over the last few days, I can't even remember it being this cold over the entire winter. Ahh good old England, always a few tricks up it's sleeve when it comes to the weather. Coral is always a popular colour over the spring and summer, it's definitely one of my favourites; now's the time to rush out and buy everything in the colours coral and mint because let's face being on the bandwagon is the place to be. I love coral blush all year round but have had fun rediscovering some previously forgotten gems in my collection, I'm looking forward to wearing all of these again.

MUA: Dolly and Shade 4
Sadly the writing on the casing of Dolly did wear off quickly, and as we all  know MUA isn't going to win packaging of the year award as it is. But the actual product itself is lovely. It's a cream blush and applies beautifully with a Real Techniques Stippling Brush, I either wear it on its own or as a base for powder blush. Out of the bunch this is probably one of my favourites colour-wise, the perfect balance between pink and peach. Shade 4 is a mono blush from MUA's £1 line, I can't recommend these enough; they're nothing at all like you'd expect from such a cheap product. Cheap blushes are usually chalky and unpigmented whereas this is quite the opposite, I love the colour too- peachy orange with fine shimmer. Whether you're a novice or an expert when it comes to blushes, these are worth stocking up on!

Collection 2000: Breathless
Collection 2000 isn't a brand I'd usually go for, but I picked this up after reading a rave review on a blog last year and I'm glad I did. It's a beautiful peach colour with fine gold shimmer which works really well as a highlighter over other blushes too. While this little product is teeny tiny, you don't need much of it to add a nice sparkle to the cheekbones.

Dainty Doll: Orange County Girl
This is the cream version of 'You are my Sunshine' by Dainty Doll, I ended up giving this to my friend Toni because it looked so pretty on her medium skin tone. I already have a few products that are really similar too, Rose Gold by Sleek for example is almost identical and I've hardly even made a mark in that after having it for probably close to six months now. You all know by now that Dainty Doll products are massively reduced so a great time to try them out, I got mine from Fragrance Direct.

Mac: Peaches
Peaches doesn't have any pink undertones at all and so I suppose would be considered as an orange blush rather than a coral. As scary as an orange blush sounds, on the skin it's very wearable even on my pale face- it's my favourite of the bunch and one I wear almost much every day. It's is fully matte so contains no shimmer or glitter which is definitely my preference, I prefer my daily sprinkling of glitter to be added with a highlighter rather than mixed in with the blush itself.

George: Sorbet
Do yourself a favour and go out and buy all of these little mono blushes from Asda. Immediately. Don't be put off by the brand because they're really nice. Sorbet has a slight pink undertone, and a fine shimmer that comes off on the skin as a very slight sheen. It's such an effortless everyday colour, and because it's so small is good to pop into a handbag or travel bag. Again this is really soft with great pigmentation, a small and inexpensive product that's effective what more could you ask for!

Sleek: Rose Gold and Life's a Peach
Sleek's Rose Gold is a colour I could swoon over all day, I could quite happily swatch it all the way up my arm and sit looking at it sparkle. Weird? Ok maybe, but if you own this you'll know what I mean. Although it's the pure amount of shimmer and sparkle that makes me love it so much, it's also it's downfall in a way. It's really easy to go way overboard with it, usually I add a tiny bit to highlight rather than as an actual blush. Life's a Peach is fully matte and is actually very similar to Mac's Peaches (I compared the two here). I think Sleek do some of the best blushes on the highstreet, they cost less than a fiver and the quality and pigmentation puts some higher end brands to shame.

Do you have a favourite coral blush? Next on my list to try is Posey by Mac, but I'm always open to suggestions!

  5. You have a lovely collection! I have been wanting to try something from the Dainty Doll range, but so far have not got around to it. On the whole I prefer cream blushes to powder, so maybe I will try the one you have shown once the Maybelline one I am using at the moment dries up :0)

    1. All of the Dainty Doll stuff is reduced to £2 on Fragrance Direct, I had fun the day I found that out lol and bought loads. If you like cream blush I definitely recommend Dainty Doll Paper Roses, it's a really pretty pink. Orange County Girl is also lovely but because it's so shimmery it's not really ideal for every day but still worth a try is you like shimmery blushes! x
