Real Techniques Buffing Brush Dupe For Less Than £2? Must Read!

Real Techniques Buffing Brush Dupe (Style 02) £1.84 Available Here

I'm not usually one for buying copies of things; like most beauty bloggers I have an outrageously long 'wishlist' of products I want at any one time, and will usually just buy things from that (even if I know fine well I'm paying well over the odds). I can't be alone in thinking that you just don't get the same warm and fuzzy feeling from buying a less expensive version of a product than what you do from buying the original, but this was too good to pass up! I know people rattle on about Real Techniques brushes being 'budget' and 'inexpensive' but come on guys who are we kidding; yeah they're a lot cheaper than what you'd pay at any department store makeup counter but a full set will still set you back £100 or more. Seeing as you can only buy the Real Techniques buffing brush as part of the £20 odd pound core collection, it seemed stupid paying that again when all I wanted was one brush from the set.

Two weeks later (a very speedy timescale if you're used to ordering from Hong Kong eBay sellers) the postman popped this through my letterbox. I really wasn't expecting much, but could hardly believe it when I opened it up. It's SO similar to the original, although the design of the handle is slightly different, the quality and feel of the bristles are almost identical. When I was ordering it I was half expecting horrible scratchy fibres, but the bristles feel the same as those on the super soft original brush. Because the  eBay brush is ever so slightly less dense than the original, it actually feels softer on the skin. I'd imagine that a slightly less dense brush would be better for a lighter coverage, but in all honesty I found the application of both to be identical. I washed both brushes for this picture, and just like the Real Techniques brush there was zero shedding from the eBay one and it dried equally as quick- it's extremely well made!

Seeing as this costs roughly five times less than a single Real Techniques face brush (including postage!) I'd recommend it to anyone. Whether you already own a full set of RT brushes and just want a couple of spares, have been wanting to try out the buffing brush and don't want to purchase the entire Core Collection or are just looking for a high quality, low cost foundation brush to put in your handbag/travel bag this really is just the thing. I've got a couple of other variations on their way to me already but after feeling this I'm going to order the rest of the set (edit: the tapered brush (style 01) and flat top brush (style 04) are also amazing, but the stippling brush (style 03) was rubbish as the bristles were too long).

The brush shown in the picture above is 'Style 02' from this seller HERE and costs just £1.84 including postage (they're here if you're in the U.S). Have you ever found a really great dupe of one of your favourite products? Will you be giving these brushes a go?
