I won this cute little balm tin by Figs and Rouge a few weeks ago and was so excited for it. I've had this somewhere my wishlist for a while, and so getting it as a freebie definitely put a smile on my face. Figs and Rouge are known for their natural cosmetics, and I've always thought the brand sounded nice and wanted to give them a try.
The balm itself clear and waxy, it says on the back of the tin that it's petroleum free it but feels and acts almost identical to Vaseline. If I'd have been blind trialling this product I'd have been convinced that it was a regular old Vaseline lip balm. Don't get me wrong it does the job but I haven't noticed anything particularly spectacular- I don't think it works any better than my trusty Nivea Caramel Creme lip butter or any other similar lip balm tin. I think the main reason I'm not especially impressed with this is the smell/taste (or should that be lack of). I expected 'Coco Vanilla' to have the most amazing scent, it actually it smells like nothing at all. Maybe it's to be expected from a product that's not loaded up with artificial fragrances, but still I love a good scented lip balm and so the blandness was a bit disappointing to say the least. According to Figs and Rouge you can also use these little tins for the hands, face and body, although with the size of it I can't see it as anything other than a lip balm. It does the job and it comes in a cute tin but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to replace it when it runs out. At £5 it's on the slightly more expensive side of lip balm tins too, and personally if it's not going to work better than any other similar balm then I'd rather have one that smells nice.
