Autumn Staples: Wishlist

Another season is on it's way; I hope you like sky high gas bills, shivering and being soaked in the rain, because that's exactly what you'll be getting (excuse me while I go and cry for a while...) Even though my school and university days are well behind me the whole 'back to school' vibe gets me feeling like a fresh start is in order, and makes me want to get organised and prepare what I'll need for the colder months ahead. Either that, or my brain is coming up with new and innovative ways to persuade me to go shopping- not like much persuasion is ever needed. I've been having a clear out recently and throwing out and eBaying off some of my older bits and pieces so it's only fair that I get new stuff to go in it's place right? Apparently this autumn/ winter it's all about grunge, punk and tartan; I'm never usually one to follow fashion trends anyway but I can safely say that this isn't my style at all, and so hopefully I'll be able to find clothes that I actually like over the next six months! Here are a few of the things that are currently on my never-ending wishlist.

Coat
With the weather we had this summer I haven't worn much more than a light jacket in months, I always find it a bit of a sad moment when the time finally comes to dig the winter coats from the back of the wardrobe. I think the whole process will be a lot more bearable if it means I get to buy a new one, even though I tend to stick with the same style again and again- quite long and fitted at the waist. As much as I'd love a great big bomber jacket with ten layers of padding once the cold weather kicks in, I don't really fancy looking like a tank so usually just stick with a style I know looks flattering.

Short Wellies
I will most definitely be investing in a pair of short wellies this year. I spent far too long last winter hopping around in my hallway pulling regular wellies on and off- they're a pain. A shorter pair that can easily be slipped on and off (but still keep my feet dry on muddy walks with two hyperactive dogs) is a no-brainer. They might be far from the height of fashion but I do love a good pair of wellies, and even at age twenty five the urge to jump into a muddy puddle wearing them does occasionally strike- I'm not gonna lie!

Warm Scarves
I had it in mind last year to buy loads of warm, snuggly woollen scarves, yet every single time I'd leave the likes of Primark, New Look and H&M with cute little lightweight ones in my bags. This year I'm going to make it my life's mission to find the perfect cosy scarf- and then buy it in every colour.

Pyjamas
I absolutely love pyjamas, and I'll shamelessly admit that if I'm at home I'm probably in my my pjs. Come autumn/ winter time I go out of my way to find the softest, snuggliest dressing gown ever; comfy pjs, a soft dressing gown and fluffy socks- comfort explosion.

Makeup/ Nail Polish
This is the time of year to neglect anything in the colours coral or mint and replace it with purple, burgundy and red. This year I intend to buy blogger cult lipstick Rebel by Mac, as well as their infamous Cranberry eyeshadow. For nails I have in mind Vampsterdam by OPI and Essie's Wicked.

What are your autumn staples? Are you looking forward to autumn and winter, or dreading it as much as me?
