My Top Five Budget Red Lipsticks

1/ 23/ 4/ 5

This time last year I was just finding my confidence with wearing red lipstick in the daytime, after previously seeing it as a 'nights out only' kind of shade. However this year it's full steam ahead and I'm thoroughly embracing the trend; Ruby Woo and Rebel have already been ordered from Mac and should be flying through my letterbox any day now, and I've been rifling through my current red lipsticks deciding what my favourites are for the colder months ahead. Although it's practically been autumn in blog land ever since the end of August (you autumn-holics just can't wait for boots, coats and pumpkin spice lattes) it officially starts next Sunday- so time for a bit of a makeup switch around. Here are five of my favourite red lipsticks for autumn!

Kate Moss by Rimmel Shade 107
If you don't own this yet, get yourself to Superdrug and make it happen- you wont regret it! In my opinion if you're going to try out just one darker lip colour this year it should be this one. The slight berry tone makes it easier to wear than the others, and although this is marketed as a matte collection it's not drying in the slightest and very comfortable to wear.

Rimmel Colour Show Off in Red Fever
This is similar in texture to Kate shade 107, but obviously a lot brighter. Whether or not the shiny pink packaging is your kinda thing (although I'll shamelessly admit I love it!) the product itself is such great quality. I reviewed some of the other shades in this post, there are a couple of other reds in the collection if you prefer something less vibrant.

Revlon Love That Red
This is probably the boldest of the bunch, a gorgeous true red. Unlike the previous two in line, this is a standard creme lipstick giving it a glossy finish. While the staying power isn't the best, it's not so slippery that you end up with it all over your face after five minutes either, and it fades evenly to a nice stain. The perfect classic red lipstick.

Dainty Doll Saucy Sailor
I'm a huge fan of the Dainty Doll lipsticks, you can't go wrong now that they're down to £2 from £14. I haven't seen Dainty Doll lipsticks on Fragrance Direct for a while but no doubt they'll be back, when they are I'd definitely recommend snapping them up. I swatched some other shades in the collection here.

Barry M Cranberry Moisturising Lip Paint
This is an old favourite from last year, it's the deepest of the five and such a pretty berry/red colour. I do find that the application isn't the nicest as the bullet drags on your lips, but it's fine applied with a lip brush. The burgundy tones are perfect for this time of year, and because it's from their 'moisturising lipstick' range it's not half as drying as shades from the regular Barry M lip paint line.
