Etude House Watercolour Blusher Review

Etude House Watercolour Blusher in Apricot: Available in the UK here from eBay

You might recognise this 'Watercolour Blusher' from my recent swap post; it was one of the beauty goodies I received all the way from Malaysia, and straight away it was one of the products that stood out to me most. A cream/ liquid hybrid that comes out of the tube just like watercolour paint, but blends out into a beautiful peach cheek stain- if they have anything like this here in the UK then I'm definitely not aware of it! As with all of the Etude House products I've seen the packaging is adorable, it comes in a cute little paint tube in keeping with the 'watercolour' theme.

This is definitely the type of product where a good test run is needed, if you're anything like me then trying it out for the first time five minutes before you have to rush out of the door will end in disaster. I quickly realised that the amount I'd applied to my cheeks on my first attempt was possibly enough to cover my whole face- perfect for any budding oompa lumpas but not such great news for me. My second attempt was much better; once you know how much to squeeze out it's actually really easy to work with, the strong pigmentation means you only need a tiny dot on each cheek for a good flush of colour. It's far easier to apply than the likes of Benefit's Benetint liquid type blushes; as it's thicker you get longer to work with it and buff it into the skin before it dries, and it also doesn't stain the skin directly on contact (I really have had some huge Benetint/Posietint related disasters- clown cheeks doesn't even cover it). I've been applying this directly to my cheeks and blending out with a Real Techniques buffing brush which gives a nice, even finish. You could also apply it to the back of your hand, dab your brush into it and apply it to your face from the brush but you'd use up a lot more product that way.

While liquid blushes like this take longer to work with than powders, the staying power really is so much better. If you're having one of those days where you need your makeup to stay on this is the type of format to go for. The colour is so pretty, and unlike most powders and creams it doesn't fade off within a few hours; because of how light it feels on the skin it's a great option for days that you don't want to be clogging up your face with layers of powder too. If you're from the UK and interested in giving this a go I did manage to hunt it down on eBay, I'm still really glad this was included in the swap though because I doubt it's something I ever would have come across myself. Plus with it being available on eBay it always means I can replace it when it runs out too- bonus!

Have you ever tried a 'watercolour blusher'? Are there any other brands that do a similar thing?
