Kalme Skincare For Combating Winter Redness and Ruddiness

I hate having redness in my cheeks, it's really no fun whatsoever. It's such a bummer knowing that I'm always going to need foundation to look respectable even on days when my skin is completely clear (which might only be once in a while, but still!) When I heard about the Kalme skincare line designed for skin prone to rosacea, ruddiness and easy flushing I was eager to give it a go- I'm pretty skeptical that anything will make much difference but you never know. The products in the line contain extract of capers which have been scientifically tested to help combat red skin and sensitivity, as well as offer twenty four hour moisturisation. Nice to know they've done their research rather than just making random claims, which I'm almost positive some companies out there do!

Cream Cleanser
I've been looking for a product like this for a while, you apply it to a cotton pad and it cleanses your face without water. This is especially handy for mornings, there are few things in life that are as unpleasant as splashing water on your face when you're half asleep (I always end up soaking the front of my hair too- yuck). I do a full double cleanse, exfoliate and make sure all of my makeup is removed in the evenings in the bath anyway and so it's not like another huge cleansing session is needed a few hours later when I wake up. It feels really gentle and moisturising and leaves my skin feeling clean; while it's not something you could use on a face full of makeup it easily removes any excess oils and freshens up the skin before moisturising. I really love this- it's made my morning routine much more bearable!

Day Defense (SPF 25) & Night Repair Cream.
I always try to use daily moisturiser that contains an SPF, now that I'm in my mid twenties I'm trying to be a bit more aware of premature aging because of things like UV rays. When you live in cold and rainy England whacking on a load of sunblock every morning tends to be the last thing on the agenda, so it makes sense for it to be included in your daily moisturiser seeing as you'll be using that anyway. The day cream is light, non-greasy and absorbs quicky, it works well under makeup without causing it to slide off. The night cream is thicker and more rich than the day cream, but still doesn't feel heavy or greasy- the last thing you need is your face sticking to the pillow when you go to bed! I've had my heating up full blast most days over the last few weeks (which is typically around the time my skin starts drying out and playing up) but both of these products have kept it nice and hydrated.

I've been using this range for a couple of weeks now, and my skin looks clear and feels in good shape. I can't say I've noticed any difference in the redness of my cheeks, although it became clear after reading up on the research notes for these products that they're not aimed at the type of redness I have. My cheeks look red because I'm so pale with no warm undertones to balance it out, it's unlikely that any topical treatment will change that. This line is aimed at skin redness that occurs as a result of roseacea and sensitivity caused by cold weather. If your skin is ruddy and red as a result of working outside a lot, or because it's particularly sensitive to the cold I'd definitely recommend this range as all three products feel very calming and soothing on the skin. Because Kalme skincare doesn't contain steroids or chemicals and is unscented, it's ideal for even the most sensitive skin types too. If like me your cheeks look rosy just because you're really pale (I feel your pain) this probably wont make a difference. I'm really glad to have these products to hand though, when the winter properly hits and gale force winds threaten to rip off the top layer of my skin I'll definitely be reaching for these.
