George Show Stoppers Top Coat in Ice Queen*: £3 from Asda

I've gone with a very wintery manicure today with the help of this Show Stoppers top coat in the shade 'Ice Queen'- just look at those sparkles...swoooon. I get a bit entranced when it comes to glittery things and it can definitely be a bit of a problem, you can bet I've spent most of today watching my nails twinkle under the light (which is great, but does limit any kind of productivity). This is one of four limited edition polishes available from George at the moment, and I'll be snapping up the others in the set if I spot them in Asda as they're all equally as pretty. 'Dotty' is made up of black and silver mixed glitter, 'Ruby Slippers' is made up of red glitter and 'Glitter Bomb' is a magical mixture of pink, blue, silver and green glitter. Just the thing for the job if you plan on getting your sparkle on this winter.

Ice Queen features holographic strand glitter suspended in a clear base, giving it that icicle/ ice shard appearance. It applies really nicely to the nails with an even coating of glitter; I hate having to blob a huge amount of polish on the nails when glitter particles are too sporadic, so was glad that it wasn't the case with this. The swatches above show just one coat, you don't need to build it up and wait for additional layers to dry which is always a bonus (especially when you're as impatient as me!) The second I laid eyes on this I knew I needed to pair it up with a blue base coat, it's fitting with the 'Ice Queen' theme and is also a great way of transforming a typical spring/ summer pastel blue shade like this into a wintery looking manicure. I love that it's a bit different from your standard glitter top coat, and basically it just looks like a party on the nails which I'm all for. I can't wait to try this over different base coats, I've already tried it over a matte white on a nail wheel which looked stunning and is most likely what I'll go for next time I paint my nails!

What do you think of 'Ice Queen'? Are you are excited by sparkles as me?!
