Five Festive Favourites: Glitter Polishes

I'm a self confessed sparkle-a-holic all year round- but you have to admit Christmas is the perfect time to dig out the gaudiest items you own and walk around like a festive glitter ball. I recently invested in an acrylic nail polish stand to display all of my favourites and have been hitting the row of glitters hard. Even with moving house and attempting to tackle a 'to do' list as long as my arm, I've still made time to get into the festive spirit with my nails (even though I've worn hardly any makeup and my skincare routine has well and truly gone to pot- eeek!) Here are five of my favourites that I've been decorating my nails with throughout December.

Revlon Nail Enamel: Stunning
Although it doesn't look like much over the white nail wheel, this silver iridescent mixed glitter is probably one of my favourites (as you can probably tell by how much I've used in just a few months!) In the summer I wore it a lot with Essie's 'Bond With Whomever' which is a lilac shade (see how it looks here) but it looks equally as pretty over dark red, burgundy or purple.

Barry M Nail Paint: Red Glitter
This is an old faithful that I reach for every year around this time- come on, can you get any more festive than sparkly red?! Although this is reasonably opaque in two coats it really needs a full three if you wear it alone, so I generally put it over a red or plum base (I'm farrr to lazy to wait for three coats of nail polish to dry). You can't go wrong with Barry M polishes- cheap cheerful and you can be pretty certain that they have a colour to match just about any season, holiday or mood!

George Show Stoppers: Ice Queen
I raved about this in a review a few weeks ago and have reached for it a whole lot ever since. The iridescent strand glitter is just gorgeous, and gives a really wintery ice shard look. I paired it over a couple of different blue bases in this post; I like it best over Revlon's Blue Lagoon which transforms the traditional spring/ summer pastel blue into a really pretty winter manicure.

Nails Inc Fine Sprinkles: Devonshire Place
I'm a little bit obsessed with this polish, it's a unique mixture of gold, silver and black with a textured finish. On the nails it looks like a sparkly gold shade so great for Christmas, but not so garish that it looks out of place throughout the rest of the year too. The only problem with this one is that big pieces start to chip off after a couple of days, but it's a lovely colour and effect when it's on.

P2 Sand Style: Opulent
I won this from the fabulous Luchessa in a Twitter competition, I'd never heard of this German brand before but it was love at first paint. The sparkly green is ideal for Christmas, yet it's still quite dark and vampy which is great for the colder months. I think it looks extra festive as an accent nail with Barry M's red glitter!
