Summer 2014: High End Beauty Wishlist

Sunday, June 22, 2014

So summer 2014 is officially here, and I hope this amazing weather has started as it means to go on! Aside from the fact I've woke up half boiled to death in my bed every morning (my bedroom would be the room that gets the most sunlight in the morning wouldn't it) I'm ridiculously excited- is there anything better than sunny summer evenings and kicking back with a nice cold drink? I've never understood people who say winter is their favourite season, how can you prefer cold grey rain and drizzle to this? Along with a new season, of course comes a wishlist of 'essentials' that I need to get me through. The first half of this year has been a slow one for beauty purchases, I've been so caught up on decorating and furnishing my entire house (which is no walk in the park let me tell you) that I've been lusting over rugs, lamps and wall art more than I have over beauty products. But of course a few things have caught my eye, and I'm also coming to the end of some of my favourite staple products which definitely need replacing for over the summer.

Since finishing up my beloved Touch in Sol 'Pure Dew Water' BB cream I'm in the market for a lighter base now that the warmer weather is here. I never bought into the whole BB craze when it first came about as they were always too orange and oily for my skin, but Asian BB creams are a whole different ball game. While I do prefer full coverage it's just not an option on really hot days, a bit of BB cream and some concealer and I'm happy enough with my base without feeling like I'm caked in heavy makeup. Dr Jart's Regenerating BB cream is supposed to provide strong coverage for redness, which completely sells it for me!

I've heard some really good things about this diamond range from Redken- not only does it protect and smooth the surface of the strands, but over time it actually repairs the hair too. I'm in need of a decent hair mask for over the summer anyway (I have no intention of sizzling my hair off or letting it dry out from the sun this year!) and so a product that has long lasting effects sounds like a good'en.
It's no secret that I've been on a bit of a fragrance kick for the last few months, in fact perfume is one of the few beauty products that I've actually lusted over and wanted to buy. All of the reviews I've read have mentioned how Honey is such a nice summer scent, and while I have a Marc Jacobs perfume wishlist as long as my arm this is the one I'm most eager to try. Like any higher end perfume it's pretttyyy expensive, I usually look for a discount code with at least 10% off (Voucherbin has a few at the moment) which makes it a lot more bearable. There's also a Pink Honey version, which is the same perfume with pretty pink limited edition packaging. Want.

My trusty Benefit Hoola is very close to being used up, and I'm in two minds whether to repurchase or give this one by Mac a go. As much as I love Hoola, since I've hit pan it's become more and more difficult to use the last of it up because of the high sides of the cardboard packaging. I much prefer the standard Mac pan, although I don't know if the colour of the product is as nice. If you've tried both of these products I'd love to know which one you recommend.

While I was on the Mac website eyeing up Matte Bronze I couldn't help but to have a little peek at this palette. I certainly don't need another neutral eyeshadow palette but at £65 this is such an amazing deal- seeing as filling one yourself at £10 per pan along with the palette and insert clocks up to almost £200. Next time I feel like treating myself to makeup (that doesn't involve repurchasing something important) I'll definitely be keeping this beauty in mind.

What's on your summer wishlist?

  3. Honey is one of my favorite scents. It is so light and feminine. Perfect for summer! I really like the Matte Bronze. It is gorgeous and doesn't pull too orange, but it is definitely more warm than Hoola. If you are looking to stray from Hoola I would definitely try it out :) Hope that helps!

The BB cream has had amazing reviews though, so this would definitely be at the top of my list!
