Cinnamon Bun Candle* £10 from A&A Candles

Candles have got to be one of my favourite things to buy, when it gets to this time of year it's just not the same without one burning away in the evenings. Whenever I'm in a homeware shop you'll usually find me loitering around in the candle section, opening lids and sniffing every individual one- it just never gets old! A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to A&A Candles, they're a new company who make handmade candles from recycled wine bottles. Their idea came about one night when they were throwing away wine bottles after a dinner party, and I think it's such a unique and interesting concept- the cut down bottles make perfect candle containers and it's also a great way to reuse and upcycle the glass. My all time favourite scent is cinnamon and so the 'Cinnamon Bun' variety on their website was an easy choice, as soon as I stuck my nose into the jar when it arrived I knew I'd chosen well. But the 'burning' question (see what I did there, heh heh) is how does it perform? I know that candles can sometimes be quite deceiving, as they can smell amazing in the jar and then throw off no scent whatsoever. But I'm pleased to say that's not the case with this at all, it fills the room up with the beautiful fragrance and performs just as well as any Yankee candle!

A&A Candles use 100% soy wax which has the benefit of being all natural and free of nasty chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides. It produces a cleaner burn than most other kinds of wax meaning it's safer for asthma and allergy sufferers, and with it being a sustainable and renewable source it's kind to the environment too. The wooden wick means it's easy to light (and won't choke you with a load of smoke like some candles can when you burn them wrong) these types of wicks apparently prevent tunnelling and waste wax too which is always a bonus. There's nothing worse than getting to the end of a candle and having a load of wasted wax all around the edges! Along with the recycled glass bottles they're a really eco-friendly company without lacking in quality or scent. I love how cute and rustic everything is, you just don't see things like this in highstreet shops.

At £10 each these are a real bargain, way cheaper than you'd pay for similar sized candles elsewhere but with just as much scent throwoff. If cinnamon isn't your thing there's a variety of other scents on there too, everything from Baby Powder, Fresh Cotton or Apple Orchard to slightly more unusual scents such as Bamboo and White Grapefruit. I think these would make really nice gifts for anyone who's into their all-natural products, or just for any candle lover in general!

  4. Wow, these sound cool! I like that they're reducing waste by repurposing old wine bottles. The price for what you get is extremely reasonable, too.
