A Real Techniques Powder Brush Dupe (For Less Than £2!)

Real Techniques powder brush dupe: £1.89 available HERE (UK) or HERE (US)

I own and love a number of Real Techniques brushes and think they're great- they're soft, they don't shed and in comparison to high end brushes they're pretty affordable. However, I highly doubt I'll buy any more of them. That might be quite a statement for a beauty blogger to make, but over the past year or so I've found much cheaper dupes that perform in exactly the same way. I'd repurchase this Uspicy set for example long before I'd buy any more Real Techniques brushes, as the bristles feel exactly the same in terms of softness and density but I prefer the slightly bigger brush heads. Other dupes I've found on eBay look almost identical to the originals, if you saw my buffing brush dupe post here you can see that side by side they're pretty much the same- they have the same high quality feel and super soft bristles too but cost many times cheaper than Real Techniques brushes. Having said that there is one brush that I'd had my eye on for a while and that's their powder brush, and up until about a month ago hadn't seen any trusty dupes on eBay. But one fine day when I was scrolling through listings (as you do) this thing popped up and I practically heard angels singing. Not only does it look almost identical to the original but cost a tiny £1.89.

Seeing as I've tried other eBay copies I assumed that the quality of this brush would be just as good, and I wasn't wrong- it's gorgeous. I don't have the Real Techniques powder brush to do a side by side comparison, but I've seen enough reviews of it over the years and have walked past it in Boots enough times to know that this is a pretty good copy. The handle is well made, the brush head looks about the same size and the bristles are amazingly soft. I mainly use mine to apply loose powder, the large size means you can distribute it nice and evenly but it's also great for applying pressed powder or a light dusting of bronzer. The similar shape and colour of the handle means it wont look out of place amongst your RT brushes, so if you're after a backup or just want an high quality powder brush I can't recommend this enough.

Being completely honest, usually I'd prefer the actual brand name over a dupe (just because I'm a bit fickle like that) but in the case of these brushes it doesn't bother me in the slightest. They genuinely perform just as well as the original, and at the current price point you could buy SIX dupes for the same as one original brush. I've washed this loads of times and it hasn't shed at all either so am confident it will last a really long time- I've had my other eBay dupes for over a year now and they're still perfect!
