Five Things To Do on a Rainy Weekend

There's no denying that rubbish weather limits the stuff you can do at the weekend, I don't know about you but knowing I have to brave the cold and rain to get anywhere puts me off doing a lot of things. Not so long ago I'd be queued up outside nightclubs (in a dress and no coat of course) every weekend come rain or shine, but these days when the bad weather hits all I want to do is put on my cosiest pyjamas and crank up the heating. Call me old but I love my home comforts, and over the coldest time of the year I'd much rather be indoors than out. If you feel the same way, here are five ways to spend a cold and rainy weekend!

Have a Pamper Day
Light a scented candle, soak in the bath and enjoy using all of your most indulgent products! Not only is it an relaxing way to spend a cold and rainy afternoon, but it's a great de-stresser and will leave you feeling nice and fresh and ready for the week ahead. I often put my nicest products away for times like this, so I can really appreciate them when I get around to using them.

Do a Pinterest Project
I think most have us have pinned or liked a pretty DIY project on Pinterest at one point with the mindset 'I'm going to give that a go.' Well what better time to try it than on a rainy weekend? Whether it's with wood, paper, fabric or food it's a productive way to spend some free time especially when it's too cold and rainy to do anything outside. I have to admit I never really 'got' Pinterest until quite recently but I'm well and truly addicted now, it's such a unique way of categorising projects and ideas to look back on when you need them (saves me having a million lists everywhere which was previously my method of choice!) With Christmas coming up there are loads of fun and festive ideas on there at the moment.

Play Games
If you can rope in other people, then old fashioned board games or cards night with drinks is always a good night. While I'm not especially into computer games I do have a couple that I'll go on now and again which are a fun way to kill a couple of hours. If I'm not interested in what's on the TV I'll sit playing games on my phone too (I drive people mad doing this, as half an hour later I complain I'm lost and don't understand the film- ha). It doesn't seem like all that long ago that being able to get on the internet on phones was an amazing new thing- these days you can choose from about a million different games, measure your heart rate or even play online bingo. No wonder we're all glued to the things!

Watch a New Tv Series
Bring down your quilt to the sofa and have a proper duvet day! It's not often I'll do this because it makes me feel really lazy, but you know what- sometimes that's what you need. When you're not feeling in the slightest bit productive or creative and you want to just put your feet up and relax, what better way to do so than with a tv show and a takeaway. For a really long time I refused to watch tv series, if I didn't initially like the look or sound of it then I'd point blank refuse to watch it. I don't know what changed but if you're a bit like this too my advice is reserve judgement and watch one or two episodes- the likelihood is after that you'll be hooked!

Phone, Text. Skype or Email a Friend
It seems as though everyone has such busy lives these days, we're all constantly multi-tasking, rushing around and wishing there was more hours in the day to get things done. Because of this it's so easy to grow apart from people. I think social media can sometimes give a false sense of security; liking statuses or pictures or retweeting tweets isn't the same as interacting properly. If there's someone you haven't spoken to in a while or have been meaning to respond to, make the time for them when you have the chance. Even better, see if they want to come and see you for a catchup!

What do you get up to when it's cold and rainy outside?

  1. These are literally all of the things that I get up to when the weather is awful or I'm just not feeling up to tackling life! One of my favourite feelings is having a nice, hot bath, reading a book with a few candles lit and using my favourite products, getting out and getting into my favourite fluffy onesie and then snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket and a cup of tea watching a film on the telly. Feeling warm, clean and cosy is really satisfying for me. Xx

  3. I've been trying to reading more books again (other than the stuff I have to read for uni), so I suggest getting lost in a good book sounds like a good idea! :)

  4. Those are all very good suggestions!
When it's cold and rainy, I'd organize my makeup! Lol. Or, light some aromatherapy candles (sage and mint scents go very well together, for example) and relax with one of those sheet masks that have holes cut out for your eyes, nose, and mouth. :-P :-P :-P
