If there's one thing I'm guilty of when it comes to buying clothes, it's that I always stay within my comfort zone. For everyday staple pieces I usually go for plain dresses in darker colours (I'm all about black, navy, plum and dark neutrals) and while I'll bring in colour with my accessories, I think 2015 is definitely the year to branch out a bit. With spring approaching the shops are filling up with brighter and more fun fashion items, and with so many gorgeous pieces available it seems silly not to take advantage!

The pieces above from New Look are all a bit different to what I'd usually pick, but you know what I love and would wear all of them. You can probably tell that I'm a fan of a nicely cut skater dress, I love how flattering they are and that you can dress them up or down depending on what you're doing. While I can't see myself venturing too far from my favourite style just yet, putting this together has made me realise that I can be more confident in my choices as bolder and patterned pieces can still be great versatile staples. I think each of these could easily be worn with leggings, a jacket and boots in winter or with sandals and a light cardigan in summer. The white floral dress is probably my favourite piece- however I love the necklines on the bird dress and the tropical print dress, and along with the mint shoes I think they'd make cute outfits and would be something I'd be really comfortable wearing.

This has got me excited to update my wardrobe and switch up some of my staple pieces, and I'm definitely going to be buying clothes with a new perspective from now on. I'm looking forward to making the change and can't wait to get out there and try something different!
