Blogmas #17 Christmas Party FOTD

Thursday, December 17, 2015

Last night I went to a Christmas party at a friend's house, and while it was a fairly causal get together I of course wanted to glam up a bit anyway! My usual evening/ night out kind of look is smokey eyes, heavy contour and nude lips- but with it being Christmas time I wanted to go with something a bit more festive, and so went with gold eyeshadow and red lipstick. Here are the products I used!

My everyday eyeshadow look consists of simple neutral shades in matte and satin finishes, and so for nights out (especially at Christmas!) it's all about the prettiest shimmery and sparkly shadows I can find. I started with Urban Decay's Sin eyeshadow pencil, and from the original Naked palette used the matching Sin powder eyeshadow over the top. I used the warm, mid toned brown shade Buck as my transition shade through the crease of the eye and for the lid I used Half Baked- the most beautiful sparkly gold. In order to smoke it out and amp it up a bit for the evening I used the shade Darkhorse in the outer V of the eye and under the lower lash line. Really quick and easy to do, you get a bit of festive gold in there but it doesn't look too much with the statement red lipstick. The original Naked palette is by far my least used eyeshadow palette, but I wanted something a bit warmer than usual and this one is ideal for gorgeous warm neutrals and golds. I finished the eyes with Yves Rocher's Intense Kajal black liner on the waterline, and Maxfactors Colour Xpert liner to do a simple winged liner along the lash line. For brows I used my holy grail Glo and Ray eyebrow pencil in the shade Terra Brown. I love this thing, I think it looks really natural and is such a good match to my hair.

The lipstick I used for this look is Ruby Woo by Mac, I love how the finish is completely matte as I find it gives a really nice classic red lip (I spoke about some of my favourite red lip products earlier in the month here if you want to see what else I've been using and loving!) Because the lips were so bold I kept the face simple, I didn't use any blush or highlighter but added a slight contour using Benefit Hoola to warm up my complexion a bit and add some structure to the cheeks.

Have you been to any Christmas parties this December?

  5. Love the makeup! I just love a red lip at Christmas but never brave enough to rock one myself! I've just bought a few of the Maybelline Color Drama lip pencils in the red shades, so we'll see :-) xx
