Blogmas #4 Easy Festive Manicures

If you want fun and festive nails but are crap at nail art, you've come to the right place because so am I. I can't count how many times I've been inspired by gorgeous designs just to have a go myself and ending up with weird messy blobs on my nails- nothing more disheartening than realising quite how rubbish you are at something eh? For those in the same boat, I've rounded up four of my favourite Christmassy nail art designs that are actually easy to do, and trust me if I can do these anyone can! My only advice is to buy a set of nail art brushes, they're really cheap on eBay and mean that you're able to be much more precise. Attempting to do any kind of nail without the right tools will only end in disaster... trust me I've tried.

Candy Canes
These are so simple but look amazing, I really enjoyed wearing these and am looking forward to doing them again throughout December. I started with a matte, opaque white polish and painted the stripes using a dark burgundy. Once they had dried I went back in and added a layer of sheer red glitter over the stripes.

Rudolph
Again I started with a matte, opaque white polish as my base. I used a nude shade for the reindeer heads, and the same burgundy as above for the noses. A really fine nail art brush came in handy for the antlers which were a bit more fiddly to do, finally I used dotting tools for the eyes and the highlights on the nose. This would work well as an accent nail if you didnt want to go quite so full on!

Holly
If you're looking to keep it more on the subtle side, this design might be for you. I started with a simple french manicure and added the holly design on the accent nail- you could go with anything from a present to a robin to a red bow. Quick and easy to do, and adds a bit of festivity without going too over the top- keeping it more on the 'work appropriate' side for most people.

Fairisle Print
The good thing about these is that they look quite intricate and as though they'd be hard to do, but are deceptively simple. I went with mainly lines, zigzags and dots as they were the easiest to do. I'd recommend getting a good clear picture of the print you want to copy up on your computer screen while you're doing these, and simplify it if you need to.

Will you be attempting any festive nail art this year?
