My New Makeup Brush Additions

All brushes* from makeupbrushes.co.uk

If you're going to wear makeup then decent brushes are so important, and over the years I've discovered what it is that makes a really good brush and what it is I tend to look for. It's been a while since I updated my current stash and so I was excited to try a couple of new ones and add to my collection. I've been trying out some new brushes from the aptly named 'makeupbrushes.co.uk' who stock an amazing 600+ products including brushes, lashes and beauty tools. Not only is delivery free on every order, but they also dispatch the same day (if you order before 2pm) and send via first class post- so your goodies are with you in no time at all. Such a bonus- no one wants to spend ages waiting for their shiny new purchases to arrive! These are the new brushes I've been testing out.

As a blogger I'm lucky that I get to try lots of wonderful products, many of which really impress me and that I love using. However every now and again I'll come across a product that I absolutely LOVE, and this brush is definitely one of them. It's fair to say I'm obsessed with this thing, it's now my very favourite brush in my collection. From the size, shape and density of the bristles to the high quality bamboo handle- it's just gorgeous and performs so well. I was previously applying bronzer with a big fluffy powder brush so was a bit unsure of how I'd feel about using a denser brush but I love it. You can get a great contour while really blending it into the skin for a natural looking finish, and the bristles are the softest things ever. As you'd probably guess from the name So Eco are an eco friendly brand; they're also cruelty free and made from sustainable plants, with all components (including the packaging) being 100% responsibly and ethically sourced. Pretty amazing.

This is a handy little kit and contains the types of brushes that everyone needs in their collection, it would be ideal for someone starting out (or if you just feel like updating your current eye tools). Personally I don't use flat shader brushes like this as I prefer to apply my shadow with fluffier blending brushes, but the others are definite essentials. The spoolie and brow brushes are great for combing through brows after applying product for a natural look, and the thin brush is ideal for gel liner. My favourite of the bunch is the little angled brush, I've been using this to apply my HD brow powder it works like a dream. As with all So Eco brushes they feature a high quality bamboo handle, and each brush feels really nicely made.

The Real Techniques Bold Metals brushes need little introduction really, just about everyone who's into beauty has one or more of these on their wishlist! They're some of the most beautiful looking brushes on the market at the moment, and while they're on the pricey side can you imagine how pretty a whole collection of them would look on your dressing table? I went for the contour brush which is a smaller size with short bristles, perfect for precisely placing your contour and highlight shades before blending out. With it being from Real Techniques you of course know the quality is going to be great- the bristles on this brush are gorgeously soft but what really struck me is how heavy and well made the handle feels. It's actually weighted for optimal performance, giving you the perfect weight distribution when tipping it towards the face. If you're into contouring, this is one that's not to be missed!
