Three of The Best Things I've Ever Bought

As consumers we’re constantly buying and trying new things. Some are cast aside and forgotten about within a few days or weeks, but others that can dramatically change and improve our lives. While I was working out my finances for 2017, it got me thinking about the things I’d bought this year- and then onto what were the best things I’d bought ever. Three items stood out among the many others, and are the items that I could never see myself being without now! If you’re looking to spend your money wisely next year, here are three things that I personally think are so worth the investment.

A Macbook
Apple products are stupidly expensive; a Macbook is roughly two to three times more expensive than a good laptop. This was one purchase I was a bit dubious of at first, aside from my car it’s the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought, and I wondered if it would be worth it. But almost five years on I can most definitely say that it was a great investment. I use this every day, for most of the day too as I use it for work as well as everything else. It still holds its charge, runs like a dream and is crazy powerful. Don’t get me wrong; I’d love to upgrade to the shiny new rose gold model because it looks beautiful, but it’s not because there’s anything wrong with this. Up until I bought this I always had standard laptops which lasted me a maximum of two years- they’d always mess up, or the fan would go. I’ve had no problems whatsoever with this, and touch wood it will last me for a few more years to come. If you’re curious, I have the Macbook Pro 13 inch with retina display but any Apple macbook or iMac is a sure winner.

A Super Kingsize Bed
Once you’ve slept in a super king bed, there really is no going back. I wanted a big bed ever since I first moved out of my family home, but as a student moving from place to place each year it wasn’t really a sensible option (I struggled enough just moving stuff in bags let alone furniture as well!) When I finally moved into my own permanent home, one of the first things I invested in was the biggest bed I could find. It was one of those things that I thought would just be a bit of a luxury, but was a total game changer. I see double beds now and they look so small in comparison. The only downside is you are more limited with your bedding choices, and bedding is is more expensive too. Although it’s totally worth the sacrifice in my opinion.

An American Fridge Freezer
Hunching over and digging around in the freezer is possibly one of the worst things ever. You can’t see what you’ve got properly, and it’s one of those daily hassles that you just kind of live with when you think there’s no other way. But actually there is another way, and that’s with an American- style fridge freezer! With these the fridge and freezer are side by side, meaning you can put most used things at the top. No need to crouch down digging through frozen bags and boxes of food. I really wanted a model that came with a water machine on the front, but not only did this bump the price up by a few hundred pounds but in my kitchen it would have been expensive to plumb in too. If you own your house though and don’t mind paying an insane amount for a plumber to hook it up, it’s definitely worth it. The great thing about newer models is they’re frost free too, no more ploughing through a pile of freezer snow to find what you want.
