Animal House! How To Keep Your Home Clean When Living With Pets

Pets really are a joy to own. They have a wonderful ability to keep us company, give us something to care for and can bring a family together. However, that being said, it's not all positive all the time. In fact, there's a pretty significant issue that a lot of people find themselves coming up against when they are living with pets: keeping their house clean. This is something that causes a lot of people to decide against having pets altogether. They imagine that having a pet and having a clean house are two things that are mutually exclusive. Of course, that's not the case! Here are a few simple things that you can do to keep your home clean while living with pets.

Specialised Equipment
One of the wonderful things about living in the modern era is that no matter what issue you might have, there's almost certainly a piece of technology dedicated to it. One of the things that is many people's least favorite part of owning a cat is dealing with the litter tray, so why not try an automatic litter tray to minimize cleaning? Or what about the fact that, as much as you love your faithful canine companion, they always seem to be shedding fur all over the carpet and furniture. Luckily there are attachments to most vacuums that make getting pet hair out of your carpets far less frustrating than it usually is. Not only that but there are specialized air fresheners that can help to deal with that...um... distinctive pet smell that can sometimes end up finding its way into your home.

Training
Now, the first thing to mention is that this is definitely not going to be an option for every pet. Then again if someone has figured out a way to train their goldfish to clean its own tank, then that would definitely be something! However, for those who own pets that can be trained, and believe it or not that does include cats, then it's a good idea to make house training a very specific part of your cleaning routine. After all, the last thing you want is to have to deal with a puddle on the kitchen floor every time your furry friend gets a little bit over excited about the fact that you've come home from work.

Make it Part of Your Cleaning Routine
One of the most common mistakes that pet owners make is that they fail to adjust their overall cleaning routine based on their pets. They treat their house the same way on a regular basis while only ever dealing with their pet's mess every so often. Instead, you should make sure that you make everything from cleaning out a tank to emptying a litter box to giving your pet a bath, a regular part of your cleaning routine. Sure it means that you'll end up having to put in a little bit of extra work, but that's the price you pay in exchange for all of the joy that a pet can bring into your life.
