In theory black maxi dresses should be easy to wear. They're flattering, comfortable and can be worn both daytime and evening as they can be easily dressed up or down. But I can't be the only one who struggles to find just the right occasion to wear mine? I bought a gorgeous black maxi dress last year for my holiday and sadly it's only been worn a few times- hopefully this year I can put that right. This weekend I'm going to a barbeque, so thought it would be the perfect chance to tailor it to a summer day; with a bright cropped cardigan, a waist belt and a casual bag. I always struggle knowing what shoes to wear with a maxi dress, I'd usually go with a pair of wedges but as we're going to be stood in a grassy garden for most of the day I thought gladiators would be a better option. Because of the plain design I'll definitely be taking advantage of wearing some of my favourite bold jewellery- a statement necklace and some stacked bracelets. And not forgetting the oversized sunglasses (if we get any sun that is!)
