My Top Five Spring Nail Polishes: Barry M Edition

Even if you've never been enticed by Barry M makeup products, you have to admit their Nail Paints are impossible to resist. With the huge number of colours, finishes and effects I can always spot a new one I want to add to my collection; I'm like a moth to a flame every time I'm shopping for makeup, drawn to their rows of pretty colourful goodness! It wasn't an easy job choosing my top five because there are so many I absolutely love- all of the shades in the textured nail range and Gelly Hi-Shine paints are perfect for spring, but these are probably my favourites of the moment. When I feel a colourful spring manicure coming on, these are the ones I'm most likely to go for.

Papaya (Gelly Hi-Shine)
Of the Gelly Hi Shine collection this is probably my favourite shade. It's a gorgeous peachy orange which is the epitome of spring and summer, and the glossy finish is a bit more special than your average nail varnish too. I think this would be perfect with a tan, and can also imagine would be a good choice on the toes with sandals when we finally get some decent weather. If you're not comfortable going for full on neon orange nails over the summer this is a good alternative, because it's a bit more peachy and easy to wear.

Mint Green
I think this is more of a light green rather than a true mint colour, but I still think it's lovely and is one I know I'll be wearing a lot over the next few months. If you're looking for a lighter mint shade Barry M's Ridley Road from their textured collection is a really pretty colour too, a similar colour to the famous Mint Candy Apple by Essie. I don't think I'd have looked twice at green nail varnish before I started blogging but I can't get enough of it now!

Blueberry Icecream
I could have included any of the 'Icecream' shades here, they're some of my favourite colours from the regular Nail Paint collection. If you like pastel colours I definitely recommend trying them out, as far as I know there are four shades: Blueberry, Berry, Lemon and Strawberry Icecream. Blueberry Icecream is an amazing light sky blue colour.

Prickly Pear (Gelly Hi Shine)
Prickly Pear seems to be one of the more popular shades from the Gelly Hi Shine collection. I do find you need two coats with this shade as the first one applies a bit thin and streaky, but as you can see from the swatch above it's beautifully opaque after a second coat. This is fairly similar in colour to Berry Icecream also by Barry M, I think I slightly prefer Prickly Pear just because of the glossier finish.

Pink Flamingo
If I had to choose my absolute favourite nail varnish from Barry M, it would probably be this one. And that's got to be a compliment, because there are some real gems out there from this brand that are just gorgeous. Pink Flamingo is a beautiful bright coral-pink, it's a shade that would look good all year round although I do especially love it in spring and summer.
