Etude House Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips Review

Etude House Etoinette Crystal Shine Lipstick: £15 (Available in the UK from here

I've been admiring this lipstick ever since I first laid eyes on it- seriously, how pretty is the packaging? This beauty came into my life through a UK/ Asian beauty swap and has definitely started a bit of an obsession with Etude House products. This is one of the 'Crystal Shine' lipsticks from the Etionette range, unfortunately it has the not-so-pretty shade name of 'PPK004' but basically it's the brightest pink in the collection.

As a self confessed girly girl the way this looks appeals to me greatly- I was excited enough about Rimmel's 'Colour Show Off' shiny pink packaging, and so as you can imagine this takes it to a whole new level. Judging by the bullet it looks as though it would translate as a really vibrant colour, but once it's swatched you can see that it's actually quite sheer and wearable. You can easily build up the intensity which gives you a bit of versatility in how you want to wear it, the picture above shows two light swipes so you don't have to work too hard to get good colour payoff. I'd liken the sheer and glossy formula to Mac's Lustre finishes, there's a tiny bit of shimmer in this but thankfully it doesn't look frosty or metallic on the lips. It's neither sticky or heavy, so is really comfortable to wear without leaving you looking dry or flaky (sexyyy). The only minor complaints I have is that the actual tube doesn't fit inside my acrylic lipstick holders as the base is wider than standard lipsticks. Not the end of the world, but something to bear in mind if you use lipstick storage holders and are a bit of a neat freak like me. Price wise they're in the same bracket as Mac lipsticks, which is about average for a higher end lipstick- while the packaging feels a bit more plasticky than Mac's overall I'd say the quality was pretty comparable.

After a bit of a search I've discovered that you can actually buy these online in the UK, great news for me as I definitely plan on getting my mitts on more of them! For now I'll probably save this as a special occasion lipstick; it will be the perfect product to bust out when I feel like using something extra fancy, and the wearable colour means it will go with just about any makeup look too.
