Home Office Decor Ideas

I've dreamt of a beautiful home office for a couple of years now, and I fully blame the swoon worthy content on blogs, Pinterest and Youtube. Now I'm finally living somewhere with a spare bedroom I'm excited to get to work creating an office, which will hopefully be a productive space to write, work on my blog, and get crafty. I'm also looking forward to having a permanent setup for taking photos rather than having to drag everything out each time I use the camera (such a chore) as well as have space to complete any other little projects I have going on. Continuing with my love of white walls and the colour duck egg blue, here are some of the things I have in mind!

1. Day Bed
A day bed is the perfect piece of furniture for an office room (especially if like me you don't have an extra guest bedroom!) When you arrange scatter cushions around the back it becomes a seat/ sofa, as and is also a single bed for when I have friends stay over. It fits the room much better than a regular bed, and is a lot prettier than your average sofa bed. The style of the one above is just what I'm looking for and there's loads of space for storing things like spare pillows/ bedding underneath.

I'm not really a fan of books out on display (or 'traditional' books at all really- I only ever read on my ipad these days). Unfortunately my boyfriend has a load of massive books and encyclopedias and refuses to part with them, and so we're definitely going to need a bookcase in here. I quite like the much coveted 'Billy Bookcase' from Ikea- cheap and cheerful and I think with the right accessories (alternate rows of books and decorative accessories) it should look nice.

I'd never usually go for a coloured lamp like this, but because the room is going to be so white I thought it would add a nice pop of colour along with the other accessories. I'll be keeping an eye out for cushions, a throw, candles and other bits and pieces in the same colour.

I recently invested in the Micke white desk (shown above) from Ikea, which is two desks in one as it's really long. At the moment we're using our old cream dining room chairs as stand-ins until we find something we like, and they look just horrendous. I'm a bit iffy about computer chairs; a couple of years ago I spent a reasonable amount on one from Very, and within a few months the covering had gone all cracked and started to peel away from the chair. I love the look of the ones above for ebay, but if you have any recommendations for where to look (for a style that's a bit prettier than your standard office chair) let me know!

I already have this Helmer filing cabinet to store my makeup in, and I like it so much I'd gladly buy it again for this room. I thought the drawers could hold things like printer paper, office-y type stationary like stamps, envelopes and pens, and a drawer for bills and other boring essential documents (which will hopefully avoid the 'running around the house like a headless chicken' searching for them when they're needed).
