The Lipstick Tag

Well hello there, happy Monday to you! How are we doing? Surprisingly I'm feeling pretty good today, which I wasn't expecting after having more than a few vodkas in the sun yesterday. I haven't drank anything more than a glass or two of wine in ages, but there's just something about a weekend of good weather in England that seems to temporarily turn everyone into alcoholics. Even so I'm not paying for it too much today, and I've decided to kick off what will hopefully be a productive week with a tag. I don't do these too often but after seeing this one how could I resist? I love a good lip product, and so here are my answers all about my collection.

How many lipsticks do you own?
I own sixty two 'lipsticks' not including balms, glosses, stains or lip crayons. I'm not sure if that's considered a lot by other bloggers but I feel that it's excessive for me, I'm at the stage now where I've stopped buying lipstick just to try out (for the most part!) and only buy things I think I'll wear regularly.

What was your first ever lipstick?
It would have been ones from Rimmel that my mum used to buy for me when I was a teenager, because I was forever asking for makeup for birthdays and things. I'm pretty sure it would have been a neutral muted kind of pink/ nude colour as I definitely remember having a few of them over the years.

What is your favourite brand for lipstick?
I have so many I love, but I'd have to say the Kate Moss by Rimmel lipsticks. I love the formula, some of the shades are perfect for me and they're cheap as chips. I have to admit I'm also a huge fan of Mac lipsticks (which beauty blogger isn't?) and am looking to replace some of my most worn shades with similar ones by Mac just because the quality is so nice.

What is your most worn lipstick?
Definitely 'Please Me' by Mac. It goes with everything and is so easy to wear, and unlike so many lip products that I own feel like this one actually suits my skin tone. It's a matte formulation but still comfortable to wear and has great lasting power.

What is your favourite finish?
I go for matte/ semi matte a lot. I'm not really into frosty or pearl lipsticks because I find they look metallic and unflattering. Aside from that I'm quite happy with standard glossy/ creme finishes although I do prefer lipsticks that aren't too slippy and have a bit of lasting power.

How many lip products do you currently have in your handbag?
(Including balms and glosses)
Two lip crayons and a lip balm (I did a post about what I keep in my makeup bag here). I think I have a lipstick in there too at the moment from where I was out yesterday. Now that I have a smaller makeup bag I have to be more selective with which products I keep inside which is definitely a good thing!

How do you store your lipsticks?
I store all of my makeup in an Ikea Helmer drawer unit, which is actually a mini filing cabinet. It's not the prettiest piece of furniture in the world, but as it's quite small and compact it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in my room and holds a deceptively large amount of makeup. I have one drawer dedicated to lip products, which includes two acrylic lipstick stands at the front and a drawer divider at the back. Any overflow lipsticks from the acrylic holders (as well as ones that are too wide to fit) have their own section, then I have different sections for lip balms, lip crayons, glosses, lip pencils etc. I keep about twelve of my most used shades in an acrylic stand on my dressing table, and switch them about with what's in the drawer every now and again.

What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?
Ruby Woo by Mac, it's such a gorgeous classic matte red. I like Bourjois Red Sunrise too which gives a completely different look, but with it being a lip crayon it's easy to topup when you're out.

What lip products are you currently lusting after?
Surprisingly I haven't lusted over lipstick in a while, as I mentioned above I'm at the stage now where I don't want to just buy them for the sake of it. Although I'd never say no to a beautiful YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick, and theres a few Revlon matte lip crayons I'd like to try out too because I think I'd get a lot of use out of them.
