I Heart Homewares

Bloomingville Embossed Water Jug (Yellow) £35* from Flitty Bird

Aside from beauty products, one thing that gets me overly excited is pretty homewares. If a shop has a homewares section then I'll always make a bee line straight for it- I just don't think I could ever get bored of squishing pillows, sniffing candles and 'aaahing' over pretty decorative accessories. If it's a bit vintage-y/ shabby chic inspired then all the better, and for the past year I've been picking out some of my favourite bits and bobs for the different rooms in my house. The little things really do make a huge amount of difference, and there's nothing better than watching a bland room evolve into a homely and cosy space with the items you bring in.

As much as I love the big highstreet shops for home stuff (Ikea, Primark Home, Wilkos, Matalan and supermarkets are usually on my hit list when I fancy looking at pretty home stuff) it makes me so happy to find cute little shops and websites that have pieces completely different to what you'd find elsewhere. I was recently introduced to independent boutique 'Flitty Bird' and was in heaven- I think I must have spent two hours scrolling through every category and admiring everything. A lot of their products are sourced from Denmark, and so have that unique Scandinavian look to them. Being obsessed with things like vases/jugs/watering cans, this large ceramic 'water' jug caught my eye and I knew it would be perfect for displaying fresh flowers in. The pastel yellow brings in a bit of colour but is still in keeping with the neutral theme of my living room, and I think would look gorgeous with different flowers displayed inside throughout the year (I'm currently loving this autumnal looking bouquet!)

This jug is extremely well made, the ceramic is thick and the handle is nice and chunky and well attached. My camera hasn't picked it up well it has the word 'water' embossed into it which is a nice subtle detail, and while it's quite a substantial size the sleek design means it doesn't look bulky or obtrusive. While I'm using it as a vase it would be of course be great used as it's actual purpose as a water jug with some slices of lemon thrown in, especially along with the coordinating dining pieces from the Bloomingville range. I'm so happy to have this displayed in my living room, and have definitely added Flitty Bird to my bookmarks!

Have you found any cute homeware shops recently?
