Thinking of Purchasing a Wig? Read This First!

Whether you're struggling with hair loss, are growing out a haircut that's gone wrong or just want to play around with your look- wigs are a fantastic way to make your hair look great. But regardless of your reasons for wearing one, it's important to make sure that your wig is fitted correctly, and that the right materials are chosen so that it looks as natural as possible. Brazillian lace front wigs are a popular choice as the quality of the hair and the design of the wig both make for the most natural look, although there are lots of options out there. Here are a few things to consider when you're making your wig purchase.

1. Choose the right lace colour
Take a close look at the wig, what colour is the lace? Usually lace front wigs use a medium brown colour lace, which can look more obvious against certain hair colours and skin tones. Today, transparent lace front wigs are available on the hair market and are well-liked for their ability to blend in better with the hairline and on any skin tone. Choose the right lace colour, and it'll make your wig look much more natural, as though it's growing out of your own scalp.

2. Choose the best wig cap size
A lot of wigs on the market are made to a medium size, with a circumference of 22.5 inches. However, we're all different and some people have larger or smaller head sizes. And so if this is the case for you, choosing the right wig cap size will keep your wig more secure, look more natural and fit more comfortably.

3. Pick the appropriate wig colour for you personally
If you're choosing a fashion wig that you want to dye crazy colours, or you want to try a wild new hair colour then ignore this step. But if you want a wig that looks like your natural hair then spend some time choosing the shade. Consider if your natural colourings have cool or warm undertones and choose a wig to match. You can go darker or lighter than your normal shade if you want to, but by bearing in mind the natural tones of your hair and skin you're much more likely to find a colour that suits you and makes you look your best.

4. Choose the best hair texture
Aside from the color, there's also a wide variety of types of hair textures on the hair market. Choose from body wave, straight hair, deep wave, curly hair, water wave etc. In addition to this there's the type of hair; Brazilian hair, Peruvian hair, Malaysian hair. Virgin hair is hair which has never been dyed or permed so is of the highest quality although you will pay more for this. Do some research, work out what type of hair is best for your budget and which texture is most likely to suit you personally.

5. Pluck it in the center part and hairline
Some wigs include pre-plucked hairline, if yours doesnt then using some tweezers to pluck around the hairline can make a big difference, there are Youtube videos that explain how to do this. If you've found in the past that your wig isnt quite sitting right then this might be the step you need to take the finished look to the next level.

6. Wash and take good proper care of your wig regularly
Keeping your wig clean is important, but unlike natural hair, wigs receive no oils from the scalp to keep them moisturised so you'll need to take the extra step of deep conditioning to ensure it stays at its best. Carefully detangling using the correct hairbrushes (wide paddle brushes are best for long hair) and detangling brushes, you'll avoid damage and keep it at its best for longer. Once you've purchased from your wig vendors you'll of course want to maintain the hair as well as you can, so maintenance is an important step.
