Easter is of course a traditionally religious holiday, however even (if like me) you're not religious, it can still be a special time of year. Any occasion can be what you make it, and if you like to celebrate the seasons and mark events on the calendar then Easter is the perfect opportunity to go all out. It's always a lovely time of year as it's the start of spring when the weather starts brightening up and everything is starting to come into bloom- and it's celebrated with a tonne of chocolate eggs which is never a bad thing! If you have a young family and are thinking of ways to mark the occasion, here are some fun ideas.
Easter Egg Hunts
Easter egg hunts are always a hit with kids of all ages (and even adults!). There's something exciting about searching for hidden eggs, and it's a great way to get everyone outside and enjoying the fresh air. You can make it even more fun by adding some extra challenges or clues, or by having different age groups compete against each other. And of course, the best part is getting to enjoy all the chocolatey goodness once the hunt is over!
Easter Baskets
Easter baskets are another fun tradition that kids love. It's a bit like a mini Christmas morning, but with a focus on all things Easter-related. You can make the baskets as big or as small as you like, and fill them with all sorts of treats, from chocolate eggs to small toys to stickers, books and crafts. Shops like Home Bargains and B&M are crammed with these kinds of seasonal items, they're super cheap and great for filling up an Easter box or basket. Yes it's totally OTT but each to their own, if it's something you want to do then can be loads of fun for kids.
Easter Roast
Roast dinners are a beloved British tradition, and Easter is the perfect excuse to indulge in one. There's something about a big, hearty meal that brings everyone together, and roast lamb is the perfect meat in the springtime as it's readily available in all the supermarkets. You can keep it simple or go all out with all the trimmings - roast potatoes, vegetables, gravy, the works. And if you have any vegetarians in your family, there are plenty of delicious meat-free options as well.
Easter Decor
Decorating your home for Easter is a great way to get into the spirit of the season. Whether you go all out with a full-on Easter theme or just add a few touches here and there, it's a fun way to make your home feel festive and welcoming. You can buy cute bunny and chick items from crockery to decorate pieces, you can find floral and colourful egg door wreaths and so much more these days. You can make your own decorations using materials you already have around the house, or pick up some cute items from the shops. And if you have kids, they'll love getting involved in the decorating process.
Easter Crafts
Finally, Easter crafts are a great way to get creative and spend some quality time with your kids. From painting eggs to making Easter cards to creating your own bonnets, not to mention all the Easter baking there are plenty of fun and easy projects to choose from. And not only will you have some lovely decorations to enjoy afterwards, but you'll also have some wonderful memories of time spent together as a family.
