Quick Fix: Remove Grey Background From Blogger Header/ Sidebar Images

Tuesday, October 08, 2013

grey background blogger, gray background blogger, remove grey background blog header, remove gray background blog header, blogger help, blog header distorted, colour, color

Have you noticed that when you upload a header image to blogger, your nice white background turns to a manky shade of grey? The same probably happens when you upload pictures with a white background to your sidebar or in your actual blog posts. Luckily it's really easy to fix. The problem is that Google is 'auto enhancing' your images (although for the most part, it actually makes pictures look worse rather than better) and can mess up the colours on your pictures. To stop this from happening here's what you do:

The Fix
1. Go to Google Plus settings here
2. Towards the bottom of the page find 'auto enhance'
3. Uncheck the box that says 'automatically enhance new pictures'

It's a simple as that! You'll need to re-upload a clean copy of any headers/ images that have a grey background-everything should now upload true to colour and without the annoying grey cast. Have you ever experienced the problem of grey image backgrounds in Blogger? Let me know if you found this helpful- lots more quick tips to come!

  1. I remember when I had that problem it was such a pain! Luckily I found out about turning off that auto enhance setting :) You can also fix it by uploading the file in .PNG format instead of .jpg :)

    1. I used to create all of my graphics with a transparent background in photoshop and upload them as PNG but I thought this would be helpful as not everyone has access to photoshop. Sounds like you worked the auto enhance out way before me, it was driving me mad for ages haha x

How did you change your blog so that someone can't copy/highlight your blog text?

    Replies
    1. You could add a "disable right click"code by iserting the code in a gadget called "html/javascript". The code can be searched on google, when you find it all you have to do is copy and paste, mind you visitors will also not be able to take images as well.

    1. go to 'template' from your blogger dashboard (in the drop down bar near where it says 'view blog') click on 'customise' then choose the simple template. The second colour choice in the simple template (white background) is best, it will give you a nice clean blog template that you can easily add to x
