It's strange because sheer lipsticks really don't interest me much, but I'm obsessed with these jumbo lip balm/stain hybrid crayons. They might not appeal to some people in the same way that a traditional lipstick does but they're easy to pull off, comfortable on the lips and can be reapplied throughout the day with ease- what's not to love? They're ideal to pop in your handbag for when you're out and about, as you can quickly swipe them on your lips in the same way as a balm with no messing around.
There are six shades in total available; I only picked up two because I really wasn't expecting to like them as much as I do, but you can bet I'll be grabbing the rest from the shelf like a woman posessed next time I'm in Superdrug. Irreplaceable is a medium bubblegum pink, as you might be able to tell by the less than perfect tip I've worn this a lot in the short time I've owned it. It's such an effortless shade; not too sheer, not too bright and goes with any other makeup you happen to have on your face. Runway is a pretty coral, the pink tones make it much more wearable than Revlon's Just Bitten orange-toned offering which I find hard to pull off. I like the packaging MUA has gone with, as far as lip crayons go these look pretty good- I'm glad they didn't go with their basic cheap looking packaging and have instead spruced them up with a swirly font and tubes that match the colour of the product inside. As you can see by the swatches the pigmentation is great; you definitely get some colour payoff rather than just a boring old tinted lip balm, but it's not completely opaque and difficult to wear like some lipsticks can be. While they're not exactly hydrating and probably wont help existing dryness, they're still good for protecting the lips and preventing them from drying out throughout the day.
I never in a million years thought I'd prefer these to the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, but I think I do. The formulation makes them easier to apply, and although they're not quite as long lasting I like the glossier finish. Plus I also much prefer the shade range of the MUA Power Pouts, and think most of the colours are prettier and more wearable (they're only £3 too, so less than half the price of the Revlon ones!) You can find them in Superdrug or online here.
