Long-Distance Love: 5 Reasons Moving Abroad Can Make Sense

There’s no denying that many people can make long-distance relationships work. After all, it’s easier than ever to do voice calls with people, and it’s usually free to do so. You can technically “see” your significant other every day if you so desired. Of course, there’s one thing that Zoom and Skype calls can’t do, and that’s providing physical closeness and intimacy. You’re likely reading this because you’re in a long-distance relationship, and you’re both ready to take things to the next level. You’re also putting serious thought into moving abroad so you can be with your lover “properly.” Here are some reasons why it can make sense to move overseas so you both can set up a love nest together and progress your relationship:

1. You Don't Have Any Family Ties
If you don’t have any relatives in the UK for whatever reason, you don’t have to feel guilty about severing any family ties. Some people might have relatives in Britain, but they might not be close ones, or they may not be relatives they want in their lives. When you have no family ties, it can make the decision to move abroad so much easier. All you need to think about is setting up your new home with your lover overseas, getting a job, and starting a new and exciting chapter in your life.

2. Your Partner Can't Come to the UK
There might be some technical reasons why your significant other isn’t able to move to Britain. For example, they might have been a bit wild in their youth and have a criminal record. Or, the legal process for moving to the UK might be too long-winded. In such situations, you may have spoken to an immigration lawyer and determined that it’s easier (and probably much cheaper) for you to make the move instead.

3. You've Had It With Living in the UK
Each year, thousands of Brits decide to start a new life in a different nation. The reason might be because they want to live in sunnier climes, or they feel they have limited career opportunities in Britain. If you’ve had enough of living in Britain, this could be the perfect opportunity for you to start a new chapter of your life in a land that offers you more possibilities, flexibility, freedom, and potentially better aligns with your personal values.

4. You Have Family Abroad
Sometimes families end up scattered across the globe for various reasons. Do you have a lot of family living in the same country as your partner? If so, it can be an excellent personal reason to move abroad.Should things not work out with your significant other, you will at least have the support of your family in the other country.

5. You Both Want to Get Married
Last but not least, if you’re both deeply committed to each other and want to spend the rest of your lives together, the next natural step is to get married. Of course, you only want to do that if you’re living together and in the same country.
