Andrew Barton Colour Care Review

If you've ever coloured your hair you'll know that caring for it can be a pain. I love how my hair looks when it's recently been dyed or I've been to the hairdressers, but getting it to a colour you love is just the beginning. Hair that's been dyed or bleached is more prone to dryness and breakage, and so good maintenance is key. Over the last two years my hair has been everything from extreme black to platinum blonde, and just about every shade in between. I know how important products designed for colour treated hair are, and that when you dye your hair often not just any old haircare will do. Whether you've added colour to your hair or bleached it out, essentially your hair cuticle has been lifted leaving the vulnerable cortex exposed. Proper haircare products will help the hair cuticle to lay flat which will increase the strength and vitality of the hair. Products that are designed for coloured hair are less harsh on the weakened hair and can help to protect from further damage, as well as keep the colour looking nice for longer. I've already reviewed Andrew Barton's Hair SOS and I Love Volume ranges and thought they were excellent quality. Since I've recently lightened my hair I thought now would be a good time to try out some of the products tailored specifically for coloured hair.

Andrew Barton Passion Flower and Ylang Ylang Colour Care Shampoo and Conditioner
The Colour Care shampoo and conditioner are paraben free, and claim to boost hair colour and vitality and promote overall hair health. The passion flower and ylang ylang are said to calm hair and smooth the hair cuticle which is really important when it comes to coloured hair. The shampoo has a sweet 'parma violet' kind of smell, disappointingly the conditioner doesn't seem to smell like anything at all but both feel like nice quality and leave my hair feeling clean and soft. Both feel mild on the hair, and so perfect for keeping freshly dyed hair looking vibrant for longer.

Andrew Barton Ultimate Blonde Glisten and Shine Spray
It's a fact, blonde hair definitely doesn't shine in the same way that dark hair does. Regardless of how healthy it is darker hair will always have much more of a glossy shine to it; while blonde hair absorbs light, darker hair reflects it. Clearly Andrew Barton has thought of everything and I think this is genius, I don't think I've seen anything else like it. It's a weightless, non sticky spray that smells gorgeous and gives a nice shine to the hair. I thought this might be shimmery/glittery but it's not at all, and it also doesn't make your hair look shiny in the horrible slick way that hairspray does It's a very natural looking, subtle sheen. Ultimate Blonde Glisten and Shine spray contains silk protein, sunflower seed and white willow and so is actually good for your hair, as opposed to most spray hair products. I can't wait to use this over Christmas to give my hair some extra shine when I'm dressed up for parties and nights out.

Another fantastic offering from Andrew Barton. As with the other two ranges each of these products are just £3 each which is such great value. All of the Andrew Barton ranges can be bought from Asda in store or online.
