A Lipstick For Every Occasion

It's taken me two years of rather extreme lipstick buying, but I've finally found something I love for just about every season, event and scenario. Here are my eight lipstick shades, (complete with finishes and formulations) of choice!

Glamorous Red
Mac Ruby Woo
Everyone needs the perfect red lipstick in their collection, something that you can always rely on to look gorgeous and glamorous when you really want to do yourself up. For me Ruby Woo ticks all of the boxes, the matte finish looks so classic and the cool toned red shade works well with my skin tone. While it's a tad difficult to apply (I use a lip brush which is much easier) it isn't too drying once it's on the lips and once it's on you know it's not going to budge,

Vampy Autumn Berry
Mac Rebel
This was a close call between Rebel and Kate by Rimmel's shade 107, I really recommend both but I slightly prefer the more purple- toned colour of this one. Rebel looks really quite terrifying in the swatch, but once it's on it's a much more wearable berry shade that's right on trend throughout the autumn and winter months. The satin finish is long lasting but still quite creamy and glossy and works really well applied lightly as a stain, as well as a full on bold lip.

Bright Pink
Mac Girl About Town
I went through a bit of a 'bright fuschia lips' phase last year, but for some reason it's not a look I've really gone for recently. However I do still like it a lot and after seeing this swatched I'm going to make an effort to wear it more! My bright pink lipstick choice is definitely Girl About Town by Mac- while it's bright yet still quite classy, and looks nice with both day and night makeup.

Everyday Pink
Mac Please Me
I think this will be a lipstick that's always in my collection, I'll repurchase for as long as I can get it. It's such a great understated daytime lipstick choice, it's not too far from my actual lip colour and so finishes off any makeup look nicely without looking overdone. The matte formula means it lasts for ages, but it's not quite as drying or chalky as some mattes and is still comfortable to wear.

Perfect Nude
Dainty Doll Baby Love
This is one of the few nude shades that look good on me without having to fake tan first. It's not too dark and doesn't lean too warm or brown, and because it's slightly sheer it's wearable without having to pile on loads of smokey eye makeup and bronzer. I do have other nude shades that I love, but this is the one I've found that works best on me for a more natural look.

Summer Red
Bourjois Red Sunrise
I wrote a whole post about this here and so I won't go into detail again, but basically it's a gorgeous glossy 'watermelon' kind of red that's a nice choice for the summer. I had no idea I'd come to love these Bourjois crayons as much as I do, if I'm honest I bought them last year simply because of blogger hype but I'm so glad I did!

Spring/Summer Must Have
Bourjois Peach on the Beach
Even if you had no other lip products, this could get you through the entire spring and summer. It's comfortable to wear, and the sheer/ glossy formula means just about any skin tone would be able to pull it off. It gives a nice hint of colour but doesn't look over the top and so goes with any makeup look. I particularly like this one for really hot days- it doesn't feel like you're wearing anything more than a lip balm, and theres no worry of a darker shade melting down your face!

Handbag Staple
Revlon JBKBS Honey
Everyone should have one of these in their handbag. It's such an easy, understated shade and is nice and casual for day to day wear. The crayon format means it's easy to apply, and because it's not a bold colour you can reapply without even needing a mirror. The perfect 'on the go' product.

What are your lipstick collection essentials? Have you tried any of these?
