Sensational Scenery and So Much More: Here's Why New Zealand Should be on Your Bucket List!

As the saying goes, 'life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.' And if you're really looking to have your mind blown by some of the most spectacular, unspoiled scenery on Earth, then New Zealand should most definitely be on your bucket list. From glaciers, lakes and snow topped mountain peaks, to volcanoes, hot springs and lush green meadows, you get the chance to experience incredible scenic diversity within one trip. Meaning with every second spent exploring, there's something new and exciting to be discovered. Here are a few things to add to your itinerary!

Book a tour
With so much to see and so many locations of absolute beauty, it can make sense to look into the best New Zealand tours to ensure you're getting the most out of your time. You'll be shown prime spots and routes to take, so that there's not a moment wasted. Have a think about what you most want to see and do during your trip and you can book a tour that suits your interests- whether it's vineyards, mountains, remote locations or wildlife there will be something for you. There are plenty of self drive tours too, meaning you get access to a planned route but still have the freedom to explore things at your own pace.

Go on a boat cruise
With so much water in and around New Zealand, it makes sense to utilise it! There are islands, harbours, gulfs, lakes and beaches which attract visitors from all over the globe. You get to see the spectacular views of the country from another angle, and let's face it, there are few things better in life than the wind in your hair while relaxing on turquoise waters. You have the option to charter a yacht, or you could enjoy a boat ride on Lake Taupo, Bay of Plenty or in the Coromandel. The Milford Sound Cruise is one of the most well known icons of NZ tourism, where you can see the world famous scenery of the Milford Sounds area. You can punt on an urban river, or spend a chunk of your trip sailing along the pristine coastline. Either way, it's another great option when you're considering New Zealand vacation ideas

Visit the cities
It might be the mind blowing scenery that initially attracted you to visiting New Zealand, but as well as lots of great outdoorsy activities, there are vibrant and exciting cities too. You of course have Wellington, New Zealand's capital where you can visit botanical gardens, museums, restaurants and go shopping. The city is home to the world famous Wellington Zoo where you can see fascinating animals, both large and small. Another major New Zealand city is Auckland, here you can visit Sky Tower which gives panoramic views of the city and where adrenaline junkies can go bungee jumping! The Auckland War Memorial museum is another must-visit, a fine piece of architecture filled with interesting exhibits of New Zealand history, natural history, and military history.

Try the food
Food and travel go hand in hand. Not only is it nice to indulge when you're on holiday, but it's a fantastic way to find out more about the place you're in. The ingredients and cooking techniques will all tell a story; in the case of agricultural New Zealand, the food is fresh and delicious from the land and the sea. New Zealand's cuisine is largely driven by local ingredients, but its blend of European, Asian and Polynesian influences is apparent. Be sure to sample the seafood, lamb, manuka honey and kiwifruit!

If you want to really have your breath taken away and see and experience a totally different world then it's well worth the full day flight!
