Your 2019 Guide to Slowing Down Your Life

One of the most significant trends in 2018 was one we could all get behind – slowing down your life. We are so connected and have so many responsibilities today that cutting out the excess and focusing more on the things we truly love is great for everyone. Slowing down allows you to be more relaxed, it saves you money and, of course, means you can connect more with the things and people that mean the most to you. Let that trend continue into 2019, and follow this guide to enjoy more of your everyday life.

The Power of Slowing Down Your Life
From enjoying experiences you love that much more to reducing stress in your everyday life, there are so many benefits to cutting down on what you do every day and instead picking up more meaningful activities.

How to Slow Down Your Life
There are so many different resources to help you slow down your life, like this BBC series, but what matters most is that you know what works for you and you stick with it. By all means, try out different tactics, but don’t assume that one article holds the meaning to life. Find out what works for you, because that is the only thing that matters. Some ways to do this include:

Know What Matters to You
Slowing down intensifies your life, so try to cut down until you only do and commit to the things you love. If you absolutely hate going out partying, for example, start making alternative nights out with your friends that include the things you do care about. Invite them over for dinner, for example, or plan events.

Learn to Say No
There is a lot of power in saying yes to opportunities, but sometimes it is best to say no, too. Learn the difference between pushing your boundaries and pushing your limits, because one can help you grow; the other just causes stress. Saying no doesn't have to mean being cruel or unhelpful, it's fine to politely decline if you don't want to go somewhere or if you're unable to do a favour for someone.

Pick Up Better Hobbies
You need to go all out with what you love. There is no reason to hold yourself back, especially when simple changes can help you enjoy yourself that much more. If you are a sports fan, for example, improve your hobby by organising a regular game night with your mates. You can either go out to a pub or meet up at yours. Have snacks, drinks, and even place a few bets on Unibet, so everyone is fully engaged and enjoying themselves. Do this, and you turn your love for a sport into a full-blown event that is thrilling and sociable.

Reconnect with Nature
Try to get out amongst nature more, both in your home and outside of it. Fresh air and a connection to nature can help you relax, enjoy life, and be healthier. Go on long walks with your dog or hikes with your family. When the weather warms up, you could go on camping trips and sleep under the stars!

Make More Time for Friends and Family
Above all else, make more time for those that you care about. Sometimes all it takes is for that one person to take the initiative for a once-in-awhile meet up to become a regular occurrence, so take that leap.

Slowing down and connecting more with the things and people you love should be everyone’s goal. We cannot sustain a fast-paced lifestyle for long, so choose things that will make you happier in the long term.
