Moving House Swiftly and Easily: Top Tips

It may come as a bit of a surprise, but moving day doesn't have to be stressful. With a little bit of organisation and planning, the moving process can be quick and easy. Just remember the following top tips.

Don't move things you don't need
Moving is the perfect prompt to declutter. Go through your home room by room and get rid of what you don't want or need before you even think about looking for packing boxes at www.safestore.co.uk/boxes-packaging/. In each room create four piles and sort your belongings into what you want to keep, what you want to sell, items for charity, and things destined for the bin. There is no point learning all about perfect packing if more than half of what you are taking doesn't actually need to move!

Choose your removal company
If you want to minimise the amount of effort and stress associated with your house move then do not try to do the move yourself. Instead, employ the services of a good removal company. Take recommendations from friends and family to make sure that you are choosing a company you can trust, and get them booked as early as you can. This is especially true if you have set dates when you need to move.

Make an inventory
After sourcing your packing boxes, make sure you know what is going into them and, ultimately, coming out of them. Making an inventory can play a key part in this. An inventory will help you to make sure that none of your possessions is lost during your move or forgotten about afterwards.

Start packing early
There is nothing more stressful than trying to pack in a rush, so start as early as you can. Make yourself a plan and list how you will pack up each room of your house. This should include how many packing boxes you think you will need if you are doing the packing yourself, and whether you will need any other packing materials, such as bubble wrap for delicate items. Start by packing up the rooms that you use the least. Often this will be the loft, spare bedrooms or the garage. Leave items that you want to use until the day before your moving date and make sure you keep things that you will need on the day separately. This could include medication, things you need for the children, or the keys to your new home!

Label your packing boxes and belongings
This is such a small thing to do but it can have a massive impact when it comes to unpacking your belongings. It will help your movers to place boxes and furniture in the right rooms without you having to watch over them, as well as making sure that things are close to where you need them to be when it comes time to unpack.
