Has the time come to declutter your home? Maybe you're tripping over things that you don't need, or you might have reached the point where nothing has a proper 'home' any more where the drawers are overflowing. There's no doubt that this is big task to undertake, and that’s why a lot of people find themselves hesitant to get started, but it's such a worthwhile project to get done. For most of us, there are a lot of different items in our homes that need to be sorted through on a regular basis, or you'll find that eventually you reach the point where you can't go on with the clutter! Read on to find out how to get started.
Come Up With A Plan Of Action
The first thing to do is come up with some sort of plan of action. You need to know how you want to approach this, and make sure that you are putting this plan to good use throughout the process. For example, where in your home are you going to start? If you take this room by room, you will find that it’s much easier to manage than if you are going between them, trying to declutter them. You'll also need to think about what method you’re going to use to decide what can stay and what needs to go. You need to be consistent throughout the home, otherwise you’re going to end up with random items left everywhere.
Throw Some Items Away
The next thing that you’re going to need to consider is what items you’re going to want to throw away. How much do you think that there is? Do you think that there is enough to get rid of that it’s worth getting a skip outside of your home to throw all of the rubbish in? If you do, then you should be looking up a skip hire, considering how much this is going to cost, and deciding if you can afford this. Or, you might decide that you would rather fill up the car with the unwanted items and take them to the tip where they can be properly disposed of. If you have items that are in good condition though, you may be able to sell them. Platforms such as eBay, facebook marketplace and instagram can be good for this.
Store Some Outside Of The Home
Finally, you should look into getting some sort of storage outside of the home if there are items that you want to keep but no longer have a place in your home. If you look into storage options near your home, you will find something suitable based on how many items you have to store. Just make sure that you’re not keeping items you don’t need, have no value or sentimental value, and really should just be thrown away.
