Mac Peaches vs Sleek Life's a Peach

Mac Peaches- £16.20/ Sleek Life's a Peach- £4.49

I think most of us would agree that peach or orange blush can look quite scary in the pan, especially if you're ghostly pale (I feel your pain- my skin tone could give a bottle of milk a run for its money). While it's definitely not something I'd have ever picked up before I started blogging, it's now my absolute favourite blush colour to wear; for someone that's fussy with bronzers in the fear that they can look too orange I think this is quite an unexpected choice for me. But rather than the tangerine look I initially expected I find they give a really pretty peachy flush to the face- if like me you already have quite pink cheeks, the last thing you want to be doing is piling on a load of pink blush!

I've already reviewed Life's a Peach by Sleek and I can't fault it. It was my everyday blush for months and months, and as with all Sleek products the pigmentation and quality is great. But being a blogger with wondering eyes towards other brands, I decided to take my new found love for Peach blushes and invest in a Mac version- I knew I'd get plenty of wear out of it (plus I felt like treating myself to a bit of retail therapy, as you do!) I know there are a few peach shades in Mac's permanent collection (Peachykeen, Melba, Gingerly, Style) but went for 'Peaches' because it's completely matte and doesn't lean either pink or brown- it's a true peachy orange. Colour wise although Life's a Peach looks darker in the pan, I find you get a slightly darker result on the skin with Peaches- probably because the Mac blush is so soft and finely milled you pick up more product on your brush. The texture of Life's a Peach is more chalky, and although it's still a nice blush it just doesn't have the super fine, silky smooth texture and application as the one by Mac. Mac Peaches is a 'Sheertone' blush, and Life's a Peach has been described on some blogs I've read as 'the sheerest of the Sleek blushes,' although I find both to be extremely pigmented and have to be careful not to go overboard when I'm applying them both.

While these are definitely not identical products I think the finish on the skin is similar enough. As Mac blushes cost a fairly hefty £16.20, it's always useful to know what the alternative products from the highstreet are. At just £4.49 not only is the Sleek version almost a quarter of the price, there's also 8g of product compared with 6g in the Mac one. Having said all that though Peaches by Mac is my preference of the two.  I'm a lover of highstreet makeup, but with these two products side by side there's a quality feel to the Mac version that just isn't apparent with cheaper blushes. Although the swatches look similar, what a photo can't really capture is how the product feels and how effortlessly it blends onto the skin. I'd still recommend both of these though, if matte peach blush is your thing and you're not looking to spend much then Life's a Peach is a great choice; Sleek are probably one of my favourite highstreet brands and you can't go far wrong with these little blushes. If you're looking for the perfect matte peach with a luxurious feel I highly recommend Peaches by Mac, it's just gorgeous.

Have you tried either of these blushes? Do you think Life's a Peach is similar enough to be considered as a dupe?
