Delightful DIY: What Colour Should I Paint My Kitchen Cabinets?

modern white kitchen cabinets which would be ideal for painting

The kitchen is such an important room in the home, it's something you want to be right both from a home value and practicality perspective. After all, it's the place where all of your meals will be prepared and eaten, it's an ideal place to socialise with guests and really does deserve the title of 'the heart of the home'. The problem is, redecoration can be expensive and so if you're not happy with the space, you might be wondering if there's anything you can do about it without breaking the bank. But before price up the cost of a kitchen builder, why not consider some DIY options. Something as simple as painting the cupboards can massively liven up the room. Here are some colour ideas to think about.

Back to Black
Is there is anything sexier than black? Absolutely not! It might not be the first thing you think of for kitchen cabinets, after all, black is a bold design choice and isn't something that will work for every space. However, if you're lucky enough to have a large space then it's definitely a route you could go down. Black high-gloss counters and cabinets look incredibly sleek, modern and trendy.

A Coastal Feel
A combination of white and navy on the cabinets should give you a classic coastal feel in the kitchen, pair it up with wooden worktops  to mimic a wooden sailing boat. Add coastal accessories to finish the look; cute, fun and a little different, it would be perfect if your home is close to the seaside.

Ceiling-High Cabinets
As the name suggests, the goal is to add ceiling-height cabinets to your kitchen. If you want the overall design to really enhance the kitchen’s aesthetic value, it's best that there's no visible wall space. By doing so, you can create a more streamlined feel. As well as looking great, you get tons of extra storage space too. Win-win!

The Marble and Copper Combination
These are two materials that have really come into the limelight in the past couple of years, and are the perfect combination for the kitchen. Marble worktops with white wooden counters and accents of copper such as on the handles, taps and other accessories give a very trendy, Insta- friendly finish.

White It All Out
Painting your entire kitchen space white does not have to look overtly feminine, though there's nothing wrong with this concept. It's a minimalistic approach, but looks very chic and gives a calming feel to the kitchen. Go with white walls, white tiles, and white cabinets with you guessed it, white worktops (natural white stone would look gorgeous here). You could always add some colour and texture with interesting, vibrant green plants and black accessories to break it up a little.

Rustic and Natural
It's nice to have at least one area of the home that feels very natural and at one with the Earth, and the kitchen is the perfect area to experiment with this idea. Paint the walls in a natural light green, and use rustic wood colours for the cabinets and accessories. Kitchen fitters Kent also suggest you to choose to add plants and other floras that mimic the outdoors.
